Built in the late 1940s as the private “Acapulco Club”, the pool had become a neighborhood focal point. Elements added to the renovated bathhouse include an ADA accessible ramp, a new entry lobby and changing areas, awnings that close to become security shutters, and a new bay window overlooking the pool deck.
In addition to restoring the bathhouse, the project reconstructed the main pool, and added a new zero-depth entry wading pool. The main pool design incorporates deck level gutter drainage and a completely new mechanical system and surge tank in the original below-ground mechanical room. The New Mexico AIA presented an Honor Award to the project.
